Week 28

California → Florida

I made it to Florida after a bit too long. Being home with family as I have written before was an absolute joy. I was able to celebrate my sister's 17th birthday with her which I didn't get the chance to do last year. My dad and I went to her school after she had parked her car and completely wrapped it in wrapping paper. It was so fun to get to do that with my dad and give my sister a great surprise.

Coming to Florida was an easy trip with only one flight, however, the weather yesterday left me in the airport for a little longer than was planned. I made it to the apartment in one piece, and I was ready to sleep as soon as I lay in bed. While I am here in Florida, I will be participating in multiple tournaments, many practices, and a college showcase at IMG at the end of the month. This will be one of the best chances to show in person what I can do after all the work I have put into my game the past year. I'm also in the best spot to visit colleges that I am interested in Florida. For college, I would love to be somewhere warm, and hopefully, California or Florida could be good fits, at least for the weather!

Being closer to home during the holidays also makes traveling back for Thanksgiving and Christmas much easier. For Thanksgiving, I will go home to have Thanksgiving dinner in Denver with my family. It will be fun to see my father's side of the family who I haven't had the chance to see since my graduation in June. I also have to admit that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays strictly for the food.

For Christmas, I will go back to Colorado where I will ski, snowboard, and spend more time with my family. I also have a chance to see all my friends who will come home from college for the holidays. As we all get older it is quite a change from being able to visit friends at school lunch. Now it is phone calls and only holiday breaks when we all get home to see each other. Growing up I lost a lot of people who I thought were friends, but growing up I was also able to make so many new friends! Only seeing each other for holidays and weekends at times strengthens our relationships rather than making them weak. Growing up is both a test of strength and the greatest enemy to friends but for the best of mine, it makes them stronger.
