Week 39

"Nothing is impossible. The word itself says "I'M POSSIBLE!"

Audrey Hepburn

I cannot believe that it has been this long since I first started blogging. Almost 40 weeks filled every one of you in on what was happening with my world and where in the world I am. Throughout it all there have been so many people who have been with me from the time when I was emailing screenshots of posts and now get to read them here online. It means so much to have so much support throughout my journey of life while also keeping everyone informed on what I am doing. Thank you everyone for all the support and comments that I am always so excited to read through.

This week was another busy one down here in the South. After a school week that was busier than the last couple of weeks us girls took our "girls trip" to Montgomery, Alabama where we played Bethune Cookman and Florida A&M. Friday was against Bethune and we walked away with a 4-0 win. It was super fun to have my parents watching a great victory. This win was expected though so it made our Saturday match against Florida A&M a little more stressful. Unfortunately, we walked out of Saturday's match 0-4 and got smoked. I however before finishing was winning my match 6-4 and 1-1 in front of my parents. It was a match that I was finally proud to have played and I was so happy that my parents both got to see it.

It was also one of our teammates' birthdays and it gave us a great chance to create a sort of tradition. My parents bought her all sorts of stuff to celebrate, balloons, cupcakes, and some of her favorite snacks. Birthdays for my family are a big deal and I feel that my teammates who cannot celebrate their birthdays with their families deserve to have the same experience. It was super fun to see her face light up when she saw the balloons, candles, and snacks. I am super excited now to see if this becomes a tradition this team will keep because it would make birthdays so much more fun!

SPOTLIGHT!

This week I am going to spotlight strength. Strength is something that everyone wants to have yet not everyone has the honor to truly find it. It is something that takes work, time, and endless experience and it cannot be truly measured. I have had the honor in my life to meet several people who have truly found their strength. My mother was the first one that I met. I have written her story over and over and yet I am still mesmerized daily by her. Having role models like my mother and father who have both found their kinds of strengths gives me hope that one day I will find my strength that is true and not just a cover for something else and can not be taken away from me by anyone.
