"Happiness is not by chance, but by choice"

So this week was another week at school and being the one directly after being home it took me a little bit of time to get back into my groove. This past week we had two matches and the boys had three. On Thursday the boys played Nicholls State in Vicksburg and unfortunately couldn't pull a win but on Friday both teams played against Hinds Community College here on campus and were able to win which was exciting because it was here at home. On Saturday both teams played Jackson State University in Vicksburg and it was the match we girls needed to win but didn't. It was not a good day for any of us girls and we walked off with a loss that hurt, my match was 0-6 3-6 and I felt that I could have done way better and held on longer for the whole team. It is a bummer that this is the reason that we won't make it to the SWAC championships but we will be having our fingers crossed for next year. This week I also had my second post on the Global Warming Mitigation Project posted on their blog. Down below is the link if you would like to go ready about Spring and all the sustainable ways to enjoy spring!
This week both teams are going down to Ole Miss to play them and it will be a match that isn't so much about winning or losing but for the girls, going out and playing the best we can and finishing off this season with a good note of playing a strong school and simply playing. For me, it is a great opportunity to get on some more school's radars especially a big school like Ole Miss. I am so excited to be able to have the opportunity to play these bigger schools and see what I need to be working towards to be able to have a visual goal for myself that isn't just professional tennis.
SPOTLIGHT!
This week's spotlight is going to be again on the plastic crisis and ways that everyone can move it from a crisis to a problem and eventually to a past problem. Before I start giving some solutions let's go over exactly what the plastic crisis is. In my eyes, the plastic crisis isn't just the plastics we see floating in the oceans or around the necks of animals but also includes when the plastics are made, how they are made, and what they are made of. So our journey into the plastic crisis needs to go back to the beginning. The first fully synthetic material was invented at the beginning of the 20th century in 1907, it was called Bakelite and was invented by Leo Baekeland. Synthetic materials like Nylon which was invented in 1935 and replaced fabrics and Plexiglass replaced windows took over the market during World War II because they allowed more natural materials to be used for other things besides the war effort. Once the war was over synthetic materials took over the general market as it was cheaper to produce, easier to make into what humans wanted and needed, and were readily available whenever they needed. I'm gonna dive more into this topic with its own post, so stay tuned for the full post soon!
Keep movin forward!! U are doing a great job!! Hugs, uncle Bob😍😍
